The Complicated Problem of CBMW: Heterodoxy and Heteropraxy
I find it interesting the various ways I have been characterized online this past week after a mention of isolated comments that I’ve made were recently quoted on the Associated Baptist Press website. I’ve been called everything across the continuum in terms of gender. I’ve been called something of a bra-burning egalitarian (I assume in terms of Christians for Biblical Equality’s [CBE] defining statements) and I’ve also been told that I’ve confused the whole issue because I’m a stealth “comp” for using the “code language” of the Council on Biblical Manhood and Biblical Womanhood (CBMW) and am against mutual submission/functional equality of all believers. I contend that all of these stereotypes are inaccurate. (Late Addendum: I do not think that CBE advocates "bra-burning," but this is a reference to how their critics attribute them to demean them.)

What Does the Danvers Statement REALLY Mean? Part II of II: The Affirmations
Make sure that you read Shirley Taylor’s response to the Rationales about the Davners Statement HERE in a previous post!
I’ve put the text from Shirley’s document in a table to make the comparison easier to read.
This bears repeating from the first post:
Shirley Taylor astutely notes the use of propaganda technique and tricks of rhetoric in the Danvers Statement, and she boldy tells the truth about what people understand about what the statement means. If people understood plainly what the Council meant in terms of everyday life and function and if the Council stated their ideas clearly, openly, and directly in the Danvers Statement, I believe that most people would reject their ideas outright. They certainly would not have accepted the statement without asking far more questions about the foundational doctrines which must be searched out and studied because they are not clear in the organization's position statement.

Jocelyn Andersen's Interview with Dr. Bruce Prescott
Click HERE to listen to the July 27th
Dr. Bruce Prescott's 7-25-2010 "Religious Talk" radio interview with Jocelyn Andersen, author of Woman Submit! -- Christians & Domestic Violence. We talk about the Freedom for Christian Women Coalition's demand that the Council on Biblical Manhood and Biblical Womanhood stop publishing and promoting the Danvers Statement on Biblical Manhood and Biblical Womanhood and issue a public apology for its misuse of scripture as it relates to women.

What Does the Danvers Statement REALLY Mean? Part I of II: The Rationales
I love how Shirley Taylor comes right out and speaks the truth about these lofty, vague, and ambiguous statements made by the Council on Biblical Manhood and Biblical Womanhood! I had not heard of her or her organization before about a month ago when I agreed to speak at the Seneca Falls 2 Evangelical Women’s Rights Convention. I'm blessed and honored to know her now. I wish I had read this two years ago!

How The Danvers Statement Negatively Impacts Mothers, Daughters, and Even Sons, A Hot House for Fostering Physical Abuse
In support of the
Many women have expressed their great grief to me at how their churches have ridiculed them when they attempted to protect their children who were molested by men and boys within their churches. I also have personal knowledge of both sons and daughters that were molested by other older boys in their church. One woman that I know very well was ridiculed by her elders and pastor for being an “overly sensitive” mother when her six year old son was molested, yet the aggressor was not punished and was allowed free access to other children in the church. When her son’s physician asked her about the abuse, her church instructed her to say nothing because reporting the abuse to the authorities would be “a violation of the rights of the sexual abuser’s father’s headship.” When she found this aggressor fondling another one of her sons in the church building and went to the church leadership, she was belittled, blamed and ridiculed for being over reactive. When the authorities became involved, her church held her accountable, but not her husband, for creating problems for the church as if she had been the abuser.

A Review of Andersen's "Woman This is War" Part I of III (Concerning Christian History)
Why I Never Bought the Whole of Complementarianism:
A Review of "Woman This is War:
Gender, Slavery, and the Evangelical Caste System"
The Kingdom of God Suffers Violence,
and the Violent have Taken Some by Force.
Jocelyn Andersen Takes Back Major Ground in her New Book
Because I embrace concepts of male governance in home and church (but that a woman is not restricted from teaching), I've been told that I'm complementarian, though at the most remote limit at the "soft" side on the continuum. My understanding may be understood as largely a loosely understood "economic" measure (literally, "house rules") in the theological sense, as my husband says, "Someone has to be in charge for the sake of order."

More About Seneca Falls 2
Seneca Falls 2 Evangelical Women's Rights Convention will commence in Orlando, Florida on Saturday July 24th, just a few days after the 162nd anniversary of the very first women's rights convention that was held in Seneca Falls, New York in 1848. Four of the five organizers of the original Seneca Falls Conference were Christians and the conference was hosted at a Methodist Church. Contrary to what others might tell you, this effort to promote women’s rights was a predominantly Christian-led event. The July 24th conference will carry on the work of the Christian women and men at the first Seneca Falls Convention, hence the name, Seneca Falls 2.
The SF2 Convention will launch a Declaration of Sentiments, a new Coalition, and a new Publication aimed at equipping the Church to confront the gender-based caste system within so many -- too many -- Christian communities.

As Christian Women Unite For Freedom From The Evangelical Caste System, I Repent for Using the Term "Complementarian"
Join us in Orlando on Saturday, July 24th!
A movement among Christian men and women has begun in favor of functional equality and freedom from the evangelical caste system which subordinates many Christian women within their homes and churches. This is the focus of the Seneca Falls 2 Evangelical Women’s Rights Convention to be held in Orlando on Saturday July 24 just a few days after the 162nd anniversary of the very first women's rights convention that was held in Seneca Falls, New York in 1848.

The American Academy of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists Responds to the Ectopic Pregnancy Issue
9July2010 Addendum: After very insightful comments on a couple of internet forums, I decided to embellish this post with additional information.
On the advent of Vision Forum's "Baby Conference," AAPLOG offers the following new Position Statement on Ectopic Pregnancy. I cannot tell you how many truly concerned people have become appalled by Vision Forum's own aberrant position on this matter. I am so grateful that a Pro Life Organization has responded, and I hope that it will be the first of many more.
The American Association of Pro Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists is a group of some 2,500 members and associates within the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), recognized as a special interest group within the College. (Read more about their organization HERE.)
